About this shelf

What is a vibe coded game?

The short answer is a game the maker talked into existence. The longer answer covers where the wave started, what gets listed here, and why the ranking is nothing but player votes.

A vibe coded game is one written mostly by prompting an AI coding tool. The maker describes the game, the model writes the code, and the maker plays, complains and prompts again until it feels right. Cursor, Claude Code, Grok and ChatGPT come up most often in the credits, with Three.js underneath the 3D ones.

The work that used to go into engine plumbing goes into taste now. Someone who has never written a physics loop can still tell you the moment a plane feels wrong in the air, and it turns out that judgement is most of the job. The models handle the parts that used to take a year of evenings.

Where this came from

In early 2025 Pieter Levels shipped a whole MMO flight sim by prompting, put it online the same week and started selling in-game billboards to pay for the servers. That game is Fly Pieter, and it is still on this shelf. Watching a browser game go from an empty folder to covering its own hosting bill inside a month is what pulled everybody else in.

His Vibe Jam in 2026 drew 945 entries and 242,000 players. Most of them were rough around the edges, which is what you expect from a weekend. A handful were the kind of thing you send to a friend at midnight with no explanation, and those are the ones this site exists to keep track of.

How this site works

Every game has a page here with the maker's handle, the genre it sits in, a screenshot and a play button that opens the game in a new tab. None of them are hosted here. The play button goes straight to the maker's own domain, which is where their ads and their billboards live, so playing from this page pays them the same as playing from a link on X.

Games are grouped by genre and by tag, and each grouping is its own page with its own ranking. Somebody searching for an endless driving game lands on the driving shelf rather than a wall of 31 unrelated cards. Every card links to the game page, every game page links back to the shelves it belongs to, and the crawl path ends up being the same path a person would walk.

How the ranking works

Players vote from one to five stars. One vote per signed-in player, and the average moves as soon as a vote lands. Nothing is weighted by traffic, nothing is bought, and no editor puts a thumb on the scale. The sign-in exists to stop one enthusiastic person voting forty times for their own game, and the only thing kept is a token that says this account already voted.

A new game joins the ranking the day its page goes up, and the six newest also ride the ticker on the home page. Nothing is weighted by how long a game has been listed. An average built on three votes sits next to one built on thirty, so read a score as what players said rather than how many of them said it.

What gets listed

The bar is deliberately low. It has to load in a browser and it has to be playable without an account. Anything that asks for a download, a wallet or a signup before the first frame gets turned away. Beyond that, if somebody finished a game and put it online, it belongs on the shelf. Most of what arrives through the submit form is listed within a few days, once we have opened it, checked it loads and taken a screenshot.

Two games here were written by hand rather than by prompt. Slow Roads and Summer Afternoon are listed because they set the standard the AI games are measured against, and both carry a human made tag so nobody is misled about what they are looking at.

Questions people ask

Are AI games free to play?

Yes. Every AI game listed here runs in a normal browser tab with nothing to install and no account required. Some makers sell in-game billboards or cosmetics.

What are the best AI games right now?

The Top 10 is ranked by player votes and refreshed monthly. Fly Hi, Fly Pieter and Vibe Sail hold the top three right now.

Are these AI generated games?

Not in the usual sense. The AI wrote the code from the maker's prompts. The art, the levels and the rules are the maker's calls, so they are games made with AI rather than generated by it.

Do they work on phones?

Most do, some need a keyboard. Try one, it costs nothing, and the play button opens the maker's own page.

How are games ranked?

By player votes, one vote per signed-in player, and the average moves as soon as a vote lands. The Top 10 is recut every month.

What tools do makers use?

Cursor, Claude Code, Grok and ChatGPT come up most often, with Three.js for the 3D ones. When a maker tells us the stack, it goes on the game page.

How do I get my game listed?

Use the submit form with the play URL and your handle. We check it loads, take a screenshot and publish it, usually within a few days.
